when does a small business employer NOT have to report an employees wages and taxes?

Question by jamzesmom: when does a small business employer NOT have to report an employees wages and taxes?
Like is there a limit to what she has to pay someone..like 600.00 a year? She says I am considered casual labor and as long as my wages dont exceed 600.00 she doesnt have to pay taxes and neither do I…This is a small bookstore. That I no longer work at by the way because she wanted to pay me 100 percent “store credit”.

If you are an employee, they must take out taxes and give you a W-2 at the end of the year no matter how little you make.

If you work as an independent contractor, they only have to give you a 1099 if they pay you $ 600 or more in a calendar year. You still are required to report it on your tax return though if you made over $400, or if you file a return for any other reason.

Q&A: Is your personal credit the same as business credit?

Question by Cajun_ Creater: Is your personal credit the same as business credit?
My personal credit is horrible because of a bad marriage, separation and I live on SSI , so it is has been difficult to rebuild my personal credit.

I was wondering if business credit is the same as personal credit? Do they use the same process?

Best answer:

Answer by Robbyz3
The answer is yes and no. Many small business owners use their personal credit to run the business which is wrong. For personal credit you have Transunion, experian, and equifax. The major business credit bureua is called Dunn and Bradstreet. With D&B your business vendors (if they choose) will report and you will build a “credit score” with them. If you establish a business make sure to contact D&B and setup your business credit profile. You can and should run a business solely off of your business credit to protect your personal credit incase something goes wrong with the business (and we all know many new businesses fail) Remember, when you call D&B they are in SALES so they want you to spend as much money as you can. Use them to get information, and if you feel it necessary, purchase some of their products. Good luck.

Q&A: I have bad credit – if I open a new business, can I apply for a credit card that has “fresh credit”?

Question by mobyisaparrothead: I have bad credit – if I open a new business, can I apply for a credit card that has “fresh credit”?
I have bad credit history – if I open a business, and apply for a credit card, will they still pull my credit and still decline me, or will they issue a new credit card under the new entity (new business?)

Also, if they do issue this new card, will good credit history of payments ever be reflected to my personal credit history if the payments on time are done under the business name’s credit card?

Best answer:

Answer by annazzz1966
Business credit is just for the business entity and not for your personal use. Any credit opened in the name of the business will remain in the name if the business and not become a part of your personal credit history.
